Ithiel is a Hebrew name that means, "God is with me." The last few days, I kept being reminded and hearing the whisper that "God is with me" so I finally looked it up. I thought the Hebrew name would have been one I was familiar with or a well-known Bible figure, but it's not. So, I dug a little further to see the mentions in the Bible about dear Ithiel, the son of Jeshiah of the tribe of Benjamin who lived among the people of Jerusalem in Nehemiah's day. Proverbs 30:1 can be translated as "The man declares this to Ithiel, to Ithiel and Ucal" or as, "The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh contain this message. I am weary, O God; I am weary and worn out, O God." AH! That is how I feel. Weary and worn out, but the promise is that even within that wearing down of my spirit, "God is with ME!"
Thank you, Lord, for always being here with me. Thank you for never leaving me or forsaking me. You have shown me that it is when I feel you are not answering my prayers that you are still working in the background toward something I cannot even know to ask for or imagine because your ways are higher than my own. It is in these times that you seem furthest away that you are nearer than I realize and deepening our relationship as I seek to know you more deeply, more fully. I pray in Jesus' name that you shall be forever near. Amen.
