Vets Aren't Victims
Great article and a well-made point. While setting up initiatives to get these vets jobs, where are the initiatives to help them readjust to the world they left and the one they've come back to in which they feel lost, misunderstood, alone, and afraid? We know that PTSD is rampant for these vets from a war on global terrorism where the boundaries and lines of where the battlefields ends and begins exist, but no one is standing there ready to receive them back into the world and teach them to cope. Instead, so many of them keep returning to theater where they feel related to rather than coming home where they feel lost and out of place. It's a frightening condition we're allowing to be created in this new time of war.
